Roger D. Emerson

Roger earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, cum laude, from The University of Akron in 1981; Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from The University of Akron School of Law in 1987; attended Case Western Reserve University from 1982-1983 for an MBA. Roger worked as a mechanical engineer for ten years (plant construction, machine design, process engineering, and product design) for The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Roger was an associate in a Cleveland intellectual property boutique; worked as an in-house corporate attorney for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.; founded Roger D. Emerson Co., LPA in 1992; began Emerson & Skeriotis; won a Weatherhead 100 in 2000; merged Emerson & Skeriotis with Brouse McDowell in 2002; helped found EMERSON THOMSON BENNETT in 2008.

Daniel A. Thomson

Daniel obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Ohio State University College of Law in 1998. His practice includes U.S. and foreign prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyrights, and litigation research pertaining to all areas of intellectual property law. Dan’s educational background also includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Florida State University in 1993. He is a member of the State Bar of Ohio, the Akron Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association, National Law Association, Christian Legal Society, and the American Chemical Society, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Supreme Court of Ohio, the Northern District of Ohio, the District of Colorado, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Timothy D. Bennett

Tim received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Akron School of Law in 2002; Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron in 1984. Tim’s area of practice includes U.S. and foreign prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyrights pertaining to all areas of intellectual property law; worked as associate with Emerson & Skeriotis; Partner with Brouse McDowell; helped found EMERSON THOMSON BENNETT. Tim is a Member of the State Bar of Ohio, the Akron Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association; Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

ASSOCIATES

Nathan B. Webb

Nathan received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Kansas School of Law in 2000. Nathan focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation. He has experience representing clients, in both the state and federal courts, in a wide variety of intellectual property disputes; including patent, trademark and copyright infringement lawsuits, domain name and trade secret litigation, and trademark opposition proceedings. Nathan also advises clients in various pre-litigation matters, provides opinions of counsel (on either product clearance or patent infringement), and manages trademark and patent enforcement efforts. Nathan has extensive experience in intellectual property transactional matters, such as drafting patent and trademark licensing and assignment agreements, company patent procurement and protection polices, and non-competition and confidentiality agreements. And as a registered patent attorney, Nathan also has experience drafting and prosecuting patents in the mechanical, chemical, and biological arts. Prior to coming to Emerson, Thomson & Bennett, Nathan was a professor managing Washburn Law School’s criminal appellate advocacy clinic, and an attorney at the Kansas Appellate Defender Office. He is admitted to practice in Ohio, Kansas, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A former college athlete, Nathan’s hobbies include basketball, biking, and running; he also enjoys gardening, travel, and spending time with his young daughters.

Barry A. Winkler

Barry received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Akron School of Law in 2008, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron in 1996. Barry brings to ETB years of experience in intellectual property law; as a law clerk, and as an attorney. Prior to practicing law, Barry worked in both the automotive industry and in information technology, and is currently a member in the Engineering Honor Society.

Rodney Louke

Rodney received his MBA and BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron. Rodney has a background in the design of mechanical, electro-mechanical and aerodynamic components, and has managed quality and manufacturing processes. Rodney’s years of experience prepared him for patent research, analysis, and trademark clearances.
